An unlikely but welcome marriage of the outdoors and indoors, this work is inspired by the wild earthiness of the surrounding bush-scape and domestic comforts of a busy kitchen table. Dense pockets of Kawakawa rise up through the underscrub around my home, perfect in its natural habitat. I walk through this bush every day, exploring its untamed beauty. Footsteps matched with an ongoing exploration of surface texture and pattern through stitching. Leigh Tawharu
