Green Lipped Mussels are rich in minerals, essential amino acids, glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), chondroitin and omega 3 fatty acids. The omega 3 fatty acids are believed to be responsible for the anti-inflammatory properties, which have an action similar to Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)2,3, while the GAG’s are believed to help rebuild the cartilage.

This makes Green Lipped Mussel beneficial in mild osteoarthritis, a condition where people suffer from painful, swollen joints and have a limited range of motion.
