Each Waka Moenga is the result of a unique collaboration between our skilled craftsmen in Pahiatua and the master carvers at Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre’s Whare Whakairo (Mt Bruce).

The journey of each casket begins in our factory, where the Rosewood components are precision-cut before being transported to the carving studio. There, over the course of a week, each piece is lovingly hand-carved, ensuring that no two vessels are exactly alike. Symbolism of the Puhoro Design

The exterior features the traditional Māori Puhoro design. Historically associated with speed and agility, this pattern is intentionally chosen to symbolise a speedy and fluid journey into the next realm. Once the carving is complete, the components return to Pahiatua for assembly and finishing. The casket is treated with a stunning glossed rosewood finish that highlights the natural grain of the timber.
