Wilhelmus (Helm) Ruifrok (1952-)

Wilhelmus Ruifrok was born in Den Hague, the Netherlands in 1952. His family immigrated to New Zealand in 1965.

In 1971 he graduated with a Diploma of Graphic Design from the Christchurch Polytechnic. Later he did further study at Ilam Art School, Canterbury University. He spent time back in Europe studying other artists' works and gaining inspiration through more current work.

Helm paints in a plastic style (blended oils), pulling references from astronimical bodies and surrealist imagery. He has also developed innovative, experimental works on metal.
