THE ART OF MEDITATION

- Meditating frog carved in netsuke style A unique and collectable netsuke by master carver Fumio Noguchi.

The Art of Meditation captures a small frog in a moment of profound distraction. Seated in a yoga pose, preparing for enlightenment, he is interrupted by a tiny slug upon his head. His face tells the story: concentration deferred, and an edge of frustration!

This little piece deserves a close inspection - particularly the detailed carving. You can sense the frustration, the tension in his folded posture. The eyes are masterfully composed - the right from merino sheep horn and goat horn, the left from buffalo horn. The slug, the interloper on his head, gleams in black mother of pearl.

Carved from dense deer antler, this piece is intimate in scale but rich in narrative, it tells a fantastic story of intrusion and frustration.

The subject speaks an enduring truth: the path to enlightenment is rarely smooth. Distractions arrive. Perseverance prevails.

A magnificent netsuke for the collector of curious treasures. Wherever you place it - on a desk, beside a meditation spot, or within a collection - this small frog will remind you to smile, breathe, and try again.

Carved from deer antler with inlays of mother of pearl, merino sheep horn, goat horn, and buffalo horn. This is "one-of-a-kind".

Take a close look at the photos, and the video to appreciate the detail of this piece.
