A small, lightweight jade hook pendant, featuring a beautiful bluey green stone carved into a clean and balanced shape. Its subtle elegance is perfect for everyday wear.

On the back of this piece, there is a slight imperfection in the top of the stone. You can see this in the photo and video. While this is a natural pitting in the stone, we have reduced the price to account for it.

The matau, or hook pendant is revered throughout the South Pacific as a symbol for life, well-being and prosperity. Its significance arises from the key role that fishing has played in sustaining island families and communities. The owner of a good hook was respected and held a place of authority in the community.
