a fine example of Aaron's quality work - he has given the stone a sharp polish which promotes the jade's structure, revealing the mineral inclusions that make our pounamu so special. This is best seen in the brief video we have taken of the piece revolving.

This piece is suspended from a 3-plait silver/brown/charcoal adjustable cord and has a traditional charcoal lashing.

a beautiful piece of traditional jewellery.

The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.

The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
