- Bone Manaia Pendant - Holder of spiritual energy, and a guardian against evil. The manaia is believed to be a kind spirit - a guardian that helps people communicate with their ancestors.

The Manaia is carved as a standalone piece but also is often seen integrated in other carvings providing a link between designs. There is some evidence that this shape was carved for its decorative merit, particularly in wood carving where it was used to fill spaces and link designs.

This piece is beautifully carved on both sides. Both sides of the Manaia have a pāua shell eye insert.
