Prestige Collection Pinot Noir 2016

Warmer climate Pinot Noir typically produces a wine exhibiting more savoury earthy notes and mouthfilling structure. When it's grown in a cooler site in Hawkes Bay, we can capture a lot of the essential elements of good Pinot Noir, silkiness, perfume and complexity. In sites that are too warm, the wine can become hard, bitter, dull and without charm.

Where our Flying sheep range is focused on delivering clear varietal expressions from Hawke’s Bay, our Prestige Collection wines are produced in a form that allows us to showcase the inherent character of our vineyard. We believe our vineyard can deliver Pinot Noir that speaks of where it comes from, Classic red to black forest berry characters, blackcurrant and boysenberry. These same berry flavours dominate the entry onto the palate, and flow into a rich vein of fruit through the mid-palate. It’s the sense of place that comes from the minerality, chalkiness and more earthy characteristics we are looking to showcase in this wine. The palate is layered and will develop with time, finishing strongly with masculine fine grained tannin.
