Setup Options and Versatility

The Front Range's frameless design offers exceptional versatility. Pitch it with ski poles during winter tours, trekking poles during summer hikes, or the optional MSR 5-foot Accessory Poles (sold separately) for dedicated shelter use. The included ski straps make assembly quick and intuitive, even in challenging conditions. The floorless design allows you to pitch on any terrain and provides excellent ventilation for cooking inside.

Optional Bug/Floor Insert

For wet or buggy conditions, add the optional MSR Front Range Bug/Floor Insert (sold separately). This transforms the tarp into a fully enclosed shelter with floor protection and insect screening, perfect for mud season, coastal camping, or areas with high insect activity.

Weight Distribution for Group Travel

At 910 grams packaged weight, the Front Range is light enough to carry solo but can be split among group members for even lighter individual loads. Divide the tarp, stakes, and poles among four people, and each person carries less than 230 grams - making it an incredibly efficient group shelter option.

All-Season Performance

The steep canopy design and Xtreme Shield™ waterproof coating ensure reliable performance across all seasons. In winter, the steep walls shed snow efficiently, preventing accumulation. In summer, the dual zippered doors roll back completely for maximum ventilation and views. The 1200mm waterproof rating provides confidence in sustained rain and snow.
