THE COACHMAN
Pastel on board drawing
580 x 380 mm
Framed behind glass
When I first started visualizing the ideas of the early settlers arriving in NZ, the shipwrecks and the impact all of this furniture must have made on the locals, I saw all their belongings washed up on the beach. This little pastel was one of the first of the immigrant series.
The English settlers loved their Royal Dalton tea pots , and we still have all the crockery I have used on the paintings.
