Kotuku is the Maori word for the rare White Heron bird. It is a symbol of spirituality, prestige, purity,uniqueness and oratory. One of the greatest compliments among Maori is to liken someone to Kotuku for it signifies everything rare and beautiful. Sometimes referred to as a darling or treasure. Most importantly, the Kotuku represents all the people of this land.
