Whistling Tree Frog
Litoria ewingii

Whistling Tree Frogs are a small to medium-sized native New Zealand frog species, known for their distinctive whistling call and hardy nature. They are a popular choice for licensed frog keepers due to their adaptability and relatively simple care requirements.

These frogs require a cool to mild, humid environment with access to clean, dechlorinated water and damp hiding areas. Housing should include leaf litter, moss, bark, and shelter to replicate their natural habitat. As a protected native species, they must be kept indoors in a secure enclosure and cannot be released into the wild.

Whistling Tree Frogs are insectivores and should be fed appropriately sized live insects such as fruit flies, small crickets, or pinhead insects. Calcium supplementation is recommended. They are nocturnal and prefer minimal handling.
