At Paws and Claws Manawatu, s are a striking bottom-dwelling catfish, valued for both their appearance and their algae-grazing habits.

These plecos feature a dark body covered in bright gold or yellow spots, making them a standout addition to larger freshwater aquariums. They are hardy, nocturnal fish that spend much of their time grazing on algae and biofilm, as well as scavenging leftover food.

s grow large and require long-term planning, making them best suited to medium–large aquariums with good filtration, hiding places, and driftwood.
