s thrive in well-maintained aquariums with plenty of open swimming space alongside planted areas, driftwood, and other natural décor. Their colours can look particularly impressive against a darker substrate and healthy green plants.
They readily accept a varied diet of quality flakes and pellets, supplemented with frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp and daphnia, along with vegetable-based foods. A varied, high-quality diet can help males develop and maintain their intense red colouration.
Their active nature makes them best suited to similarly sized and confident community fish. Slow-moving or long-finned species may not be ideal tank mates.
