At Paws and Claws Manawatu, Turquoise Polar Parrot Cichlids are a standout feature fish, loved for their intense blue-green colouring and big personalities.

This hybrid cichlid combines the compact body of a parrot-type fish with striking turquoise and blue tones that really pop under aquarium lighting. They are active, curious, and full of character, making them a great centrepiece for cichlid or robust community setups.

Turquoise are generally less aggressive than many Central American cichlids but can still be territorial, especially as they mature or during breeding. Plenty of space, hiding spots, and suitable tank mates are key.
