Worship at Hand Complete Lectionary-Based Worship Services for Sundays in the Church Year By Philip Garside
February 2026 - Whole Month
About this month's material Epiphany 4 - 1 February 2026

Today, we’ll be hearing two readings that explore what God truly desires from us: Micah 6:1-8 and Matthew 5:1-12.

In them, God calls us away from showy religion and towards a deeper, everyday faith marked by justice, loyalty, humility, and grace.

May our hearts be opened to the quiet, challenging whisper of the Spirit that invites us to live more honestly and more compassionately in our communities and our world.

Epiphany 5 - 8 February 2026

Today’s readings from 1 Corinthians 2:1-16 and Matthew 5:13-20 invite us to resist the temptation of shallow, performative religion and instead live with depth, purpose, and Spirit-shaped authenticity.

Paul reminds us that God’s wisdom is revealed not through flash or eloquence, but through humility and the cross of Christ.

Jesus calls us salt and light – not to be impressive, but to be real, visible, and transformative in the world.

Together, these readings challenge us to embody a faith that heals, humbles, and truly shines.

Transfiguration - 15 February 2026

Today’s readings from Exodus 24:12-18 and Matthew 17:1-9 invite us to climb the mountain with Moses and with Jesus, where clouds conceal and light reveals God’s presence.

On these heights, God offers both instruction and transformation – commandments for community, and clarity about who Jesus truly is.

As Moses stood alone, Jesus brings companions; as Moses waited, Jesus steps forward with purpose.

In this sacred space, may we find courage to listen more deeply, to live with intention, and to carry the light of insight down into the everyday valleys of our lives.

Lent 1 - 22 February 2026

Today’s reading from Genesis 2:15-17, 3:1-7 is not a tale of original sin, but of a profound moment of human awakening – a growing up into wisdom, responsibility, and spiritual maturity.

Rather than shaming the body or blaming Eve, we affirm the goodness of our embodied, questioning, and evolving humanity.

In our reading from Matthew 4:1-11, Jesus in the wilderness models mature faith by choosing trust, humility, and service over power and pride.

Together, these readings remind us that God walks with us in every struggle, offering grace, guidance, and always, a second chance.
Reminder

Do check out the A4 Leader's version of the Order of Service which contains a sermon, and suggestions for hymns and children's talks, in addition to the prayers and liturgy.
