Gentiana clusii alboviolacea

Rare and hard to come by

Large flowers, They do not have rhizomes, so propagating them is tricky. With lobes that are white, the throat and outside of the trumpet are purple infused, stemless with pointed petal tips without a green spot in the throat. This belongs to G. acaulis group. As such they prefer slightly acidic or neutral soil even though they grow over calcerous rock. No lime. The leaves differ by being exceptionally leathery-shiny and quite large. As most others, good rebloomer and grower. 5-15cm Sunny for good flowers and growth but not dry. They flower on young plants. Sun to light shade. Some sun helps with flowering. Generally true from seed, but these are divisions and have flowered. Seed is hard to come by and division is limited by the mother plant. Larger plants, flowering.
