Rhododendron orthocladum var. microleucum
A compact, much-branched alpine shrub with white flowers, naturally growing on stony slopes and cliffs—slow-growing but striking even at modest height.
Much-branched erect low shrub, to 1.3 m ultimately/potentially. Mine is quite old and is 50cm high. Native of N.W. Yunnan and S.W. Szechwan at alpine elevations, in open pastures, on stony slopes, cliffs,., sometimes on limestone; discovered and introduced by Forrest in 1913. This form has white flowers. 8cm
