Oxalis flava yellow

Bright and winter cheerful yellow blast. A must have pot plant, forget it behind the shed in summer.

South African species-complex found on sandy flats from Namaqualand southwards to the Cape Peninsula and eastwards to Riverdale. It is a variable species with many different varieties. It has very interesting basal leaves that are jointed and have 2 to 12 narrow leaflets, often folded lengthwise. Flowers are solitary, yellow, white or pale rosy violet, (this one is yellow) often purple on the outer margin. Autumn blooming. 5-15 cm. As autumn rains get it cracking, keep it largely dry until you would like some winter cheer! A free draining mix. Oxalis do not like frosts in the main, but if you get a few spare corms, try them in a well drained spot. They don't spread like their super weedy cousins.

7 Dormant bulbs.
