Mid-Century Portuguese Lidded Condiment Jar (c.1950s–60s)

A beautifully sculptural mid-century lidded condiment jar, made in Portugal and dating to the 1950s–1960s.

The organic, artichoke-inspired form is finished in rich green and violet glazes, with a domed lid and textured surface typical of mid-century majolica-style ceramics. Originally intended for mustard, jam, or preserves, the lid features a small notch for a serving spoon (spoon not included, as commonly found).

The jar is in excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks, and only very light crazing consistent with age — subtle and hard to see.

The base is impressed with a mould number and MADE IN PORTUGAL, confirming its mid-century European origin.

A striking yet functional accent for a mid-century kitchen, sideboard, or display shelf, and a lovely example of Portuguese ceramic design from the era.
