Sue Newitt Nelson Studio Pottery Floral Teapot (1987–1994)
A hand-thrown and hand-painted studio pottery teapot by Nelson ceramic artist Sue Newitt, dating to her earlier maker’s mark period (circa 1987–1994).
Finished in a rich cobalt blue glaze with large expressive pink florals and green leaves, this piece has the bold, confident brushwork typical of late-80s New Zealand studio ceramics. The body is wheel-thrown, with an internal spout filter and a fitted lid.
The impressed swirl mark on the base is one of Newitt’s earlier marks from this period. The teapot measures approximately 23cm wide and 16cm high including the lid, giving it a generous, substantial presence.
Condition is very good overall with no cracks or chips.
A genuine studio pottery piece that works equally well as functional ware or display.
