Variegated Monstera deliciosa 'Aurea' - 1.3L / 14cm / Small
Monstera deliciosa 'Aurea'
Monstera deliciosa ‘Aurea’ is a jaw-dropping collector’s plant, prized for its marbled chartreuse and lime variegation splashed across broad, fenestrated leaves. Each leaf is a one-of-a-kind display, ranging from mottled speckles to bold swathes of yellow-green colour. Like all aurea types, this variegation is unpredictable and unstable—making mature, well-marked specimens particularly sought-after. As a climbing aroid, it will produce larger, more fenestrated leaves when given a pole or tree fern slab to scale.
Native to the rainforests of Central America, this is a fast-growing, vining plant that can reach 2–3m indoors with support. It thrives in bright, indirect light and prefers warmth and humidity. Ideal for a living room or stairwell with filtered morning sun or bright ambient light.
Toxic if ingested.
Care Instructions
Light: Bright, indirect light is best. Morning sun is fine, but avoid strong afternoon rays. Too much light can bleach the variegation.
Water: Allow the top 3–5cm of soil to dry between waterings. Water less in winter.
Humidity: Prefers 60% or higher but adapts well to average home humidity.
Temperature: Keep above 15°C. Protect from cold draughts and sudden temperature drops.
Fertiliser: Feed monthly in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser. Avoid overfeeding, which can reduce variegation.
Support: Provide a moss pole or slab to encourage vertical growth and mature leaves.
Repotting: Every 1–2 years or when rootbound. Use a chunky, free-draining aroid mix.
Pests: Watch for spider mites and thrips, especially in warm, dry conditions. Treat promptly if found.
