Variegated Philodendron xanadu - 2.5L / 17cm / Medium

Variegated Philodendron Xanadu is a bold, self heading tropical prized for its deeply lobed foliage splashed with creamy white to soft yellow variegation. Each leaf is uniquely patterned, contrasting against rich green segments and creating strong architectural texture. Unlike climbing philodendrons, Xanadu forms a dense, upright clump that gradually widens with age, making it ideal for statement pots and bright interior spaces. The variegated form adds extra visual interest while retaining the hardy, structured growth habit that makes Xanadu a reliable feature plant. Position & Light Prefers bright indirect light to maintain strong variegation. Can tolerate medium light but colour contrast may soften. Avoid harsh direct afternoon sun which can scorch lighter sections. In New Zealand homes, position near an east facing window or in a bright north facing room set back from direct sun. Watering Allow the top third of the potting mix to dry before watering. Keep evenly moist during active growth but never waterlogged. Reduce watering frequency in winter when growth slows. Ensure the pot drains freely. Humidity Adapts well to average indoor humidity. Higher humidity will encourage larger leaves and more vigorous growth but is not essential for success. Soil Use a well draining indoor potting mix with added bark or perlite to improve airflow. A light, chunky aroid blend works well. Feeding Feed monthly through spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser at half strength. Pause feeding during winter. Growth Habit A self heading, non climbing philodendron that forms a dense clumping base. Mature plants gradually widen and produce increasingly layered foliage. Difficulty Easy to moderate. Suitable for growers wanting a structured, architectural plant without the need for climbing support. Pet Safety Toxic if ingested. Contains calcium oxalate crystals that may cause irritation to pets and humans.
