Alocasia Yucatan Princess ‘Mint’ is a bold, architectural tropical prized for its thick, upright stems washed in soft mint green and its large, glossy deep green leaves with dramatic presence. A refined selection of Yucatan Princess, this form carries a cooler toned stem colour that contrasts beautifully against its broad shield shaped foliage. Strong growing and upright, it creates instant height and structure in bright indoor spaces, making it ideal as a statement floor plant. With the right warmth and light, it delivers lush, exotic impact without becoming unruly. Position & Light Prefers bright indirect light. Tolerates gentle morning sun but avoid harsh direct afternoon sun which can scorch foliage. In New Zealand homes, position near an east facing window or a bright north facing room set slightly back from the glass. Insufficient light can cause slower growth and smaller leaves. Watering Keep the soil lightly and consistently moist during active growth. Allow the top few centimetres of mix to dry before watering again. Do not allow to sit in water. Reduce watering in winter but avoid letting the mix fully dry out for extended periods. Humidity Thrives in moderate to high humidity. While it can adapt to average indoor levels, higher humidity supports larger leaves and prevents browning edges. Ideal for bathrooms or grouped with other plants. Soil Use a rich but free draining mix. A blend of quality indoor potting mix with added bark and perlite works well. Good drainage and airflow around roots are essential to prevent rot. Feeding Feed monthly through spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser at half strength. Pause feeding in winter when growth slows.
