Hoya australis 'Lisa' - 1L / 14cm / Small

Hoya australis 'Lisa' is a beautifully variegated cultivar of the classic wax plant, known for its glossy, oval leaves painted with soft blush-pinks, buttery creams and lime greens. New growth often emerges in warm sunset tones before maturing to a creamy mosaic of colour. Like all Hoya australis, ‘Lisa’ is a climbing epiphyte that can trail, twine or climb when given support, making it ideal for hanging baskets, totems or decorative trellises.

Native to Australia, this variety is both hardy and showy. With time and the right light, it can also produce clusters of fragrant, star-shaped white flowers. Slow growing at first, it rewards patience with lush foliage and sweet perfume.

Toxic if ingested (mildly). Comprehensive Care Instructions for Hoya australis 'Lisa' Lighting Requirements

Indoors: Bright, indirect light is essential to maintain strong variegation and pink flushes. Morning sun is ideal. Too little light can dull colours and slow growth.
Outdoors: Best in a bright, sheltered spot out of harsh afternoon sun. Protect from frost and strong wind. Watering Regimen

Active Growing Season (Spring to Early Autumn):
Water when the top 2–3cm of soil feels dry. Hoyas prefer to dry out slightly between waterings.
Cooler Months:
Water more sparingly, allowing soil to dry deeper. Avoid cold, soggy roots. Temperature & Humidity

Thrives in warm temperatures between 18°C–28°C.
Average home humidity is sufficient, but it appreciates extra moisture—mist occasionally or group with other plants. Fertilizing

Feed every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced, diluted liquid fertiliser or one formulated for flowering houseplants. Do not over-fertilise. Support & Growth Habit

Train on a small trellis, totem or wire frame for upright growth, or let it cascade naturally from a hanging pot.
Prune lightly to shape or encourage branching. Repotting

Repot every 2–3 years or when rootbound. Hoyas prefer snug pots. Use a chunky, free-draining mix (e.g., orchid bark, perlite and potting mix). Pests & Troubleshooting

Generally pest-resistant, but mealybugs and aphids may appear. Inspect regularly and treat promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
Slow growth or leaf drop often indicates cold roots or overwatering. Important Note: Don’t Cut the Flower Spurs

If your Hoya blooms, do not remove the short flower stalks (spurs). They will rebloom from the same spot in future seasons.
