Bio Leaf Bio Pon - MEDIUM - 4 Litre
Bio Pon is a versatile, premium soil alternative designed to meet all your potted plant needs.
Proudly made in New Zealand, this all-natural, fertiliser-free blend of raw ingredients is set to become the next big trend in our plant community thanks to its effectiveness as a growing medium.
Made from high-quality mineral stones - Pumice, Scoria, and Red Zeolite- Bio Pon helps distribute nutrients evenly and greatly reduces the risk of plant diseases and pests, including fungus gnats.
With its stable, air-permeable structure, Bio Pon resists compaction over time, ensuring ongoing aeration and drainage. It also acts as a natural buffer, absorbing excess fertiliser and releasing it back to your plants when needed.

Pon vs. LECA
Pon gets its name from semi-hydroPONics. Like LECA, it's popular for combating fungus gnats and fungal issues, but Pon tends to be more user-friendly. It needs no preparation — just open the bag and use. Both Pon and LECA maintain a higher air-to-water ratio even when wet, but Pon is naturally heavier.
What's in Bio Pon?
A blend of pure mineral rock substrates designed to hold about 45% water and 55% air, even when saturated.
PUMICE (BIMS)
Formed when lava meets gas and expands into a light, porous stone. Helps reduce compaction, increase aeration, and create air pockets for healthy root growth.
ZEOLITES
Crystal-like volcanic rock that binds heavy metals and pollutants (like lead and nickel). Absorbs excess water to prevent waterlogging, helps keep mixes airy, and is naturally fungal-resistant with pH-balancing properties.
SCORIA (LAVA ROCK)
A highly porous volcanic stone with tiny cavities that store water and nutrients until roots need them. Commonly used as a base layer in terrariums or pots without drainage.
What Fertiliser Should You Use with Pon?
Plants grown in Pon thrive with hydroponic fertilisers that provide all 12 essential nutrients — not just the standard NPK combo. Because Pon contains no soil, a complete formula is especially important.
A popular option is Growth Technology's Foliage Focus , which is also widely used with LECA.
