Hydrochloric acid (also known as pool acid or muriatic acid) is used to lower the pH and reduce Total Alkalinity in swimming pools and spas. Keeping pH in the correct range ensures your chlorine works properly, the water feels comfortable, and protects equipment and surfaces. Why pH matters

If the pH is too high, the pool water becomes less effective at sanitising, can turn cloudy, and scale may form. Hydrochloric acid brings the pH back into balance. What hydrochloric acid does
