High quality insulating fire brick measuring 230 x 114 x 75 mm.

These are known as a JM26

These bricks are lightweight and porous and as such resist absorbing heat. They are an excellent brick for protecting building elements from heat.

Standard fire bricks (see other listings) are manufactured from high density material giving them excellent thermal mass. They are designed to absorb and retain heat. These bricks are the opposite. They are designed to reduce heat transfer through them.

The bricks are easy to cut and handle

Used as a lining behind standard fire bricks these bricks are excellent for insulating fireplaces or pizza ovens but they can also be used on a hot face.

Also suitable for hot face (in direct contact with flame) applications but be aware the bricks are quite brittle and not as robust as standard fire bricks. This basically means they wouldn't take a knock with a piece of wood as well.

These are excellent to use as a insulation layer under the bricks that make the dome when building a pizza oven as they are stronger than insulation materials such as ceramic fibre or calcium silicate board.
