Air-Set Refractory Mortar, 2kg Tub

This air-set mortar is a very high quality mortar designed to use with fire bricks. It is applied in 2-3mm thickness and sets in 24 - 48 hours.

The mortar is applied to dry bricks. Once set the material should be heated very slowly before being exposed to full heat (i.e. small fire building up to larger fires).

This is very commonly used in fire place construction as it minimises joint thickness and is easy to work with.

The mortar is suitable for applications that stay dry as being exposed to the weather (i.e. moisture) will significantly reduce its life span. If your project is exposed to the elements then please see our Fire Mortar product.

The mortar is like a tooth paste in consistency and comes ready to use (just needs a good mixing).

The 2kg tub will lay approximately 9 full size bricks (230x115x75mm), 16 medium width bricks (230x115x20mm ) and 27 thinner bricks 230x115x25mm.

Note this mortar has a finite shelf life so is best purchased close to when you intend to use it.
