Bakuchiol

a plant-derived skincare ingredient, extracted from the Bakuchi (Psoralea corylifolia) plant. a powerful antioxidant that can reduce skin discolourations caused by environmental exposure whilst having a profound soothing effect on the skin. also has the desirable effect of reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

Due to its similar actions, often touted as a natural alternative to retinol and can be used in conjunction with retinol containing products. It is even suggested that two may act synergistically to achieve improved results, can act to stabilise retinol and its calming properties may help to improve skin tolerance for retinol.

Retinol is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Whilst research has not fully determined if may be used in these circumstances, the chemical difference with retinol is significant enough that it may not present any issues. Consultation with a healthcare professional is advised though if you are considering using containing products whilst pregnant or breastfeeding.
