Iga Dobin Teapot, Black Glaze

A handcrafted teapot from the Iga region of Mie Prefecture, Japan. "Dobin" is a traditional large teapot with a shoulder handle, perfect for brewing generous amounts of tea for guests, for a full day's drinking, or for iced tea. A built-in ceramic filter makes brewing effortless.

Each piece is hand-shaped by skilled Iga craftsmen using local clay and natural glazes. The "Kuroame" glaze, named after dark honey candy, gives the surface a deep, glossy black finish. Small pebbles in the clay create a natural, one-of-a-kind texture.

Not suitable for direct flame, but excellent at keeping tea warm.

Care Before first use, simmer the pot in rice water for about 10 minutes to protect the surface from stains and odours. Soaking in cold water before each use helps prevent tea tannin marks over time.

As each piece is handmade, slight variations in shade, gloss, and glaze are natural.
