Large Smoked Deep Bamboo Colander Basket

Handwoven by skilled artisans in Vietnam, this piece is made from bamboo that has undergone a traditional smoking process, first soaked, then slowly smoked in earthen kilns using natural materials like straw and sawdust. This method removes moisture and reduces starch content, giving the bamboo natural resistance to mould, insects, and humidity, all without the use of any chemicals.

With a diameter of 37cm and a depth of 13cm, it offers a generous capacity. Perfect for bringing in silverbeet, zucchini, or seasonal vegetables from the garden, you can rinse and drain them directly in the basket. It also works beautifully for drying herbs or chillies, or simply as a fruit bowl on your bench.

Each piece is individually handwoven, so slight variations in colour and texture are to be expected.
