Wheku Sculptural Wall Work
This piece brings layered form and surface together through a balance of digital precision and considered finishing.
At the crown sits a wheku formed from maire, chosen for its density, strength, and fine grain. It anchors the work with weight and presence, setting a visual and material tone for what follows. Beneath it, flowing relief panels move vertically through the composition, creating rhythm and negative space while allowing the timber to remain tactile and expressive.
Designed as a standalone wall work, the piece sits between sculptural object and architectural panel. Strong enough to hold a space on its own, yet restrained enough to live quietly within it.
A one-off work, created to explore form, depth, and the possibilities of layered making.
