Ruahine Matariki W6 Sprayskirt Package

The Matariki is our flagship waka and is designed to have the best compromise of balance, speed and manoeuvrability. It has a fine cutting bow, wide mid section, and stable hull. Users have commented that the shape of the hull means it catches small waves and runner with ease, while being surprisingly quick to turn. With a maximum seat width of 430mm it's ideal for people of all sizes and ability levels.

Build quality is of paramount importance for this waka. W6 are used in dynamic environments (lakes, rivers, harbour and ocean) and are often treated roughly by inexperienced paddlers. Early on we recognised that they needed to be made strong so we incorporated a range of new composite materials that increase strength without adding weight. This included removing all timber and replacing with more durable materials. The result is a waka that won't bend, twist, or break even when fully loaded.
