Highlighting the connection between wāhine, te moana, and marine conservation through partnership with Arataki Dive we present our beautiful new offering!
They’ve always been here…The kaitiaki of Tikapa Moana/ The Hauraki Gulf and this summer, we’re heading out to meet them. Together, with our expert guide and skipper we’ll explore the moana and hopefully meet some beautiful creatures along the way. Manta Watch will also join us on some of these trips where we will learn about their mahi and contribute to their citizen science work, while soaking up all the fascinating knowledge about the manta ray population here in Aotearoa. With all our fingers (and fins!) crossed, we’ll be hoping to spot these gentle giants, and if conditions are just right, we may even get the chance for a guided encounter alongside them.
Between manta spotting, our Salt freedive instructors will also be setting the dive line so you can get in some dedicated freediving time too, a perfect mix of learning, exploration, and connection.
Please note: Because Tangaroa and Hinemoana have their own plans, we can’t guarantee manta sightings or swims , but that’s part of the magic. Even if the mantas are shy, there’ll be plenty of wildlife to see, freediving to be had, caves to explore, and snacks to share along the way.
