100m Super Silt Fence Kit for Erosion Control
(Please get in touch if you require a different length super silt fence).
This handy silt fence kit contains everything you need to erect a 100m super silt fence:
- 50 off x 1.8m long steel Waratahs
- 1 x Pack of plastic safety caps (100 per pack)
- 1 Pack of silt fence butterfly clips (200 per pack)
- 2 x Rolls of 50m x 1.3m double layer woven silt fence fabric (2.6m folded)
- 1 x Coil of galvanised fence wire (300m long)
- 2 x Rolls of 50m galvanised backing wire mesh
- 2 x Wire strainers / tensioners
- 1 x Pack of 200mm cable ties (100 off)
Applications of Super Silt Fences:
Super Silt Fences are robust, high-strength, double-layer fabric systems reinforced with wire mesh or multiple fence wires and steel posts, designed for steeper slopes and higher-volume, larger-catchment runoff. Key Requirements for Super Silt Fences (based on guidelines):
- Fabric & Support: Use two layers of heavy-duty, woven 100 micron geotextile fabric.
- Structure: Secure wire mesh and fence fabric to 1.8m (minimum) long Y-posts (Waratahs) spaced no more than 2m apart.
- Tensioning: Install 2.5mm da (minimum) high-tensile (HT) galvanised wire at 400mm and 800mm height for support.
- Trenching: Excavate a 200mm wide x 300mm deep deep trench. The fabric must be buried at least 300mm into the ground and backfilled.
- Installation: Installed along the contour to manage sheet flow - not suitable for concentrated flows (i.e. not in watercourses or gullies).
- : Short fence (minimum 2m in length) must project upslope at intervals to prevent end-around flow.
- Inspection: Regularly inspected and maintained; sediment must be removed when it reaches 50% of the fence height.
- Stability: Ensure the fabric is supported and (if necessary) install safety caps on Waratahs. Differences Between a Silt Fence & Super Silt Fence:
Silt fences are temporary sediment barriers using single-layer, geotextile fabric on wooden / steel stakes for low-flow, small catchments. In contrast, Super Silt Fences are robust, high-strength, double-layer fabric systems reinforced with wire mesh or multiple fence wires and steel posts, designed for steeper slopes and higher-volume, larger-catchment runoff.
