So how do you fit the sheet to the mattress?

In order to hold the stretchiness, the stretchy sheet is stitched together as a hollow tube. To fit it to the bed, put a fitted sheet on the mattress, then slide the mattress through the 'tube' of the compression sheet, so the sheet goes around the entire mattress.
