Bob Berg violoncello bow, New Zealand, 1991

Bob Berg was a pioneer in the development of the carbonfibre bow, creating some of the very first of these revolutionary bows while working as a double bass player for the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. This cello bow is a fine example of his work, before he took his nascent technology back to the USA, where it was refined by NZ-born Michael Duff into a world-famous produce like all good carbonfibre bows, this has a great clarity, precision and strength, with a quick, focused response.
