A French violin bow unofficially attributed to Francois-Nicolas Voirin

This well-loved French violin bow was used by a good professional musician for a number of decades. Unofficially attributed to one of the great masters of French bow making, Francois-Nicolas Voirin, its stamp has disappeared from the well-worn handle, though its subtle “Vuillaume"-style frog fitting and its narrow, elegant head give weight to this possible provenance. Certainly, it is a showroom favourite, with a strong but flexible stick which gives plenty of resistance, a creamy but clear tonal response, and a wonderful ricochet and spiccato. This is a real sleeper - a very elegant bow at a very affordable price.
