Pirastro KorfkerRest LUNA Violin
Comfort profile Light contact, full stability.
The LUNA's ergonomic shape is designed to feel immediately comfortable without a long break-in period. The rubber feet grip the instrument securely, and the foam pads distribute pressure comfortably against the shoulder. The click adjustment makes it straightforward to switch between 3/4 and 4/4 instruments, which is useful for teachers, parents of students who are progressing between sizes, or players with multiple instruments.
How to use Fitting and adjusting.
- Use the click-system to set the appropriate width for your instrument before attaching. No tools required.
- Place the feet on the lower bout of the violin, outside the purfling. The rubber feet grip securely.
- Adjust the position along your shoulder for the angle and height that suits your playing position.
- Fold the rest flat for storage when not in use. It is compact enough to sit alongside the instrument in most cases.
Care and storage Easy to maintain.
Wipe the body and feet with a dry cloth to remove perspiration or rosin dust. The rubber feet maintain their grip well but can be replaced if they wear out. Store folded in your instrument case. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct heat, which can affect the rubber feet over time.
Questions Common questions.
What violin sizes does this fit?
The KorfkerRest LUNA fits violins from 3/4 to 4/4. The click-system adjusts to accommodate both sizes without tools.
How does the click-system adjustment work?
The legs have a click-stop mechanism that allows you to set the width to match your violin size quickly and securely. Once clicked into position, the rest holds firmly during playing. There are no loose screws or separate tools needed.
Is the LUNA suitable for players with material sensitivities?
The LUNA uses a custom acoustic compound and standard rubber feet. Players with known rubber contact sensitivities should check the specific materials before purchasing. The KorfkerRest line as a whole is designed to minimise rubber contact with the instrument compared to conventional rests.
How does the LUNA compare to the standard KorfkerRest?
The standard KorfkerRest uses a bendable maple tone-wood bridge that you shape to your shoulder, offering the highest degree of personalisation and the most acoustically inert construction. The LUNA uses a fixed-shape acoustic compound body with a simpler click-size adjustment. Both share the same commitment to minimal damping and free sound, but the LUNA is quicker to set up and easier to adjust between instruments.
