A wet film thickness gauge is a simple, handheld tool used to measure the thickness of a wet coating, such as paint, waterproofing membranes, adhesives, or sealants, immediately after application and before it begins to dry or cure. It typically consists of a metal or plastic body with a series of notched or stepped teeth, each marked with a specific thickness measurement (usually in microns or mils).
The tool is pressed firmly into the wet coating until it contacts the substrate. The last tooth that gets coated indicates the actual wet film thickness. The teeth that do not touch the coating show where the material is too thin. Uses of a Wet Film Thickness Gauge
