Phormium tenax
a tough, architectural New Zealand native forming a large upright clump of broad lime green foliage. Its strong, strap-like leaves create bold structure, while tall flower spikes rise above the plant, attracting native birds.
Highly adaptable, it grows in both dry and damp conditions and tolerates coastal wind and exposure. Suitable for borders, shelter planting or as a striking specimen, it performs well in full sun to shade. Hardy and evergreen, it provides year-round form and presence in the landscape.
