Lachenalia elegans var. elegans

a small South African bulb grown for its delicate winter display of mauve purple urn-shaped flowers carried on upright stems. One or two lance-shaped leaves, sometimes spotted, emerge with the flowers, adding subtle interest.

Ideal for containers, alpine houses or sheltered garden positions with excellent drainage. Prefers full sun to partial shade and protection from frost. Summer dormant.
