Jacaranda mimisaefolia
Jacaranda mimosifolia is a fast-growing, rounded tree renowned for its graceful, fern-like bright green foliage that gives the garden a soft, airy texture. In early spring it drops its leaves, making way for spectacular trusses of hanging blue-mauve to lilac blooms that create a cloud of colour across the canopy. The flowers are followed by fresh new foliage, giving the tree a long season of visual interest.
Ideal as a feature or avenue tree in warmer regions, it thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. Jacarandas need protection from frost when young, but in the right spot they become magnificent, long-lived landscape trees with unforgettable spring displays.
