Eleocharis Acicularis (Hair Grass)
Eleocharis Acicularis, commonly known as Hair Grass, is a fine, grass-like carpeting plant perfect for creating lush, natural foregrounds in aquascapes. Popular in Iwagumi and nature-style layouts, it spreads via runners to form a soft green carpet that enhances depth and realism in planted tanks.
Key Features:
- Delicate needle-like leaves for a refined carpet effect
- Spreads quickly with moderate to high light
- CO₂ helps achieve dense, compact growth
- Great for shrimp tanks and aquascaping contests
Care Instructions:
- Lighting: Provide moderate to high light for healthy growth. Hair Grass may grow tall and sparse under low light.
- Substrate: Plant in nutrient-rich aquarium soil or use root tabs in inert substrates.
- CO₂: Not essential, but strongly recommended for compact, dense carpeting.
- Trimming: Trim regularly to encourage horizontal spreading and prevent vertical growth.
- Water Parameters: Prefers cooler temperatures (18–26°C); tolerates a wide range of water hardness and pH.
We recommend the usage of a 2HR Aquarist Fertilizer with all our aquarium plants for the best growth, colouration and plant health.
