Ludwigia Palustris
If you want instant volume with the option for natural red highlights, Ludwigia palustris delivers. In moderate light it stays a vibrant green; under higher light with good nutrition—and CO₂ if you run it—it grows more compact and colours up beautifully from warm copper to rich red. It’s forgiving about water chemistry and settles in quickly, making it a favourite for both newcomers and seasoned aquascapers.
We offer two growth forms to suit your setup. Emersed-grown stems arrive a touch sturdier with rounder leaves and will gradually transition to their underwater look after planting. Submerged-grown stems already show their finer, compact underwater foliage and tend to give you a “what-you-see-is-what-you-get" start. Either way, routine trimming keeps the stand dense and tidy.
Each stem typically reaches around 10–30 cm in height and 2–4 cm in spread, so it slots neatly into the mid to background without overwhelming the scape. Propagation is simple: top the plant, replant the cuttings, and watch new side shoots thicken the group—ideal when you need to fill an empty patch fast. CO₂ is not essential for growth, but it noticeably improves colour and form, while medium to high lighting brings out its best hues.
Choosing your option: pick Emersed if you’re happy with a short transition period and slightly hardier arrivals, or go Submerged for minimal change after planting and a quicker finished look.
For aquascapers who want reliable growth, easy propagation and a subtle-to-striking colour shift—without the drama.
