Steve Carr - Glass Cherries

Steve Carr’s practice explores transformation - how familiar materials, objects and forms can shift into unexpected states. Working across sculpture, photography and video, Carr uses precise, experimental processes to reveal new possibilities within everyday things.

His delicate Glass Cherries are part of an ongoing investigation into material change and perception. Created from scientific blown glass, the works capture the essence of a familiar fruit while transforming it into something fragile, translucent and almost otherworldly - a reflection on memory, absence and the passage of time.

Born in Gore, New Zealand in 1976, Carr holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Auckland’s Elam School of Fine Arts.
