The Toki (adze) is far more than a carving tool; it is a symbol of unwavering determination and mastery. Hematite, (or Haematite), is a mineral ore of iron and can range from a reddish brown, to a dark silver colour, to black. The name originates from the Greek word for blood for the red colour often found within, when the iron inside it rusts. Several ancient cultures have used Hematite as a pigment by crushing it into a red powder.
