Mere are a short-handled weapon shaped like a club with a flat elongated edge designed for close combat. Though they were made from a variety of mediums such as wood or bone ones carved from pounamu were highly prized.

Serpentine rich black and green hues, is said to be a wonderful stone to create a strong connection to Papatuanuku, aiding in meditation and spiritual exploration. Clears the chakras and opens the crown, creating balance and a sense of control over ones life. Helps to direct healing energy to problem areas.

Pounamu or Greenstone is regarded as a stone sacred to the gods by the Maori of New Zealand. As a Taonga -meaning treasured, and it should be worn with respect and pride. Pounamu is a gift from the heart.
